A(I) Brighter Tomorrow: Cancer and Beyond Exhibition at Montefiore Einstein
In connection with the recent release of our globally recognized book, HER2: The Diagnosed, The Caregiver, and Their Son, we are proud to present the first multimedia exhibition of our work—incorporating photography, video, and physical objects—as part of an ambitious group show at Montefiore Medical Center’s Gallery of ARTFul Medicine.
January 24 – April 18, 2025
Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

This exhibition is made possible with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies and Simone Development Companies and is expected to reach over 150,000 people through Q1 2025.
A(I) Brighter Tomorrow: Cancer and Beyond is more than an art exhibition; it’s a groundbreaking initiative bringing together artists, doctors, and cancer survivors to explore the human side of cancer. By centering patient and caregiver perspectives, it bridges the gap between medical treatment and lived experience, fostering deeper understanding among those most impacted.

This exhibition will reach over 150,000 people through April, including patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in the very spaces where these conversations matter most—inside the hospital walls, where people are navigating life-changing diagnoses. Having HER2in this setting ensures that those who need to see it most—those facing cancer, those caring for loved ones, and those providing treatment—can engage with work that reflects their realities and challenges the way we talk about illness.
Co-curated by Natalia Marin, an independent art curator and medical student based in Bucharest, Romania, and Jodi Moise, Director of The Fine Art Program and Collection at Montefiore Einstein, the exhibition is made possible with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies and Simone Development Companies.
“Art has the ability to teach and communicate, making it increasingly valuable in healthcare settings. In environments where oncology patients can feel powerless, this exhibition emphasizes the importance of human connections that support physical, mental, and emotional healing.”
Exhibition Highlights
"Burden of Concealment" | Anna & Jordan Rathkopf
A raw look at diagnosis, caregiving, and fertility loss through intimate photography co-created by Anna, the diagnosed, and Jordan her partner and co-survivor.
“This exhibition bridges my passions for art and medicine, creating a human connection between two worlds that shape how we heal, understand, and imagine brighter tomorrows.”
"Return to Life: In and Out of the Body" | Suzanne Anker & Heather Feil
Developed at Montefiore’s Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health, this project explores onco-fertility through the intersection of biology, sculpture, and imaging technologies. Anker uses microscopy and 3D printing to examine how life is preserved and regenerated, mirroring the ways fertility preservation techniques help cancer patients retain reproductive options despite treatment.
"T(H)UMOR: Dear Cancer Diary" | Federico Muelas
Real cancer survivor stories turned into powerful comic art.
"Physic AI Garden" | Anna Dumitriu & Alex May
An AI-driven installation that visualizes the burdens of cancer treatment and the future of oncology care.
"Light and Shadow: The Survivorship Lens" | Dr. Sabina Sucuri & Vladimir Gheorghiu
Photography exploring resilience, loss, and the untold realities of cancer.
