“Jesse and the Red Balloon” is a photographic collaboration with our son Jesse. It explores the impact of pandemic isolation on children's mental well-being. Inspired by Albert Lamorisse's "The Red Balloon," the project offers a child's perspective on a changing world and how parents can create security amid uncertainty.

In our narrative, we focused on Jesse’s emotions, creating a story where he explores places he wanted to visit with his “Red Balloon” friend, emphasizing fun and exploration despite the circumstances. Navigating NYC’s desolate streets during COVID-19, our project became a source of strength for Jesse. The images capture the interplay between internal psychological dynamics and external realities, blending moments of playfulness with poignant solitude.
