Maminka

Maminka explores the shifting bond between mothers and daughters through illness and intergenerational caregiving. Rooted in Anna Rathkopf’s experience, it reflects on being part of the sandwich generation—raising a child while carrying the emotional weight of her own mother’s past illness.

Using self-portraits, and documentary photography, Maminka examines how illness reshapes love, responsibility, and resilience across generations. Through exhibitions and digital storytelling, the project sparks conversations on caregiving, maternal connection, and the quiet strength passed between mothers and daughters.
